Joliet Multiple DUI Attorney
Illinois Attorneys for DUI Matters
First offense DUI charges without aggravating factors are typically misdemeanor charges that are eligible for court supervision. If you are arrested for a second or subsequent DUI (within 20 years of your first conviction), court supervision is no longer a possibility. The State of Illinois takes multiple DUI arrests very seriously and the penalties are stiff. The best way to minimize the consequences you could face for a repeat DUI is to hire an experienced DUI defense attorney. At the Law Offices of Tedone and Morton, P.C., we know how to effectively represent individuals accused of multiple DUIs. Aggressive trial attorneys, we fight for the best possible outcome for all our clients.
Increased Penalties for Repeat DUI Charges
After the first DUI conviction, penalties for convictions begin to include mandatory jail time and other consequences. In general, the penalties are as follows:
- Second Offense - (Class A misdemeanor) Up to 1 year in jail, mandatory 5 day jail sentence or 240 hours of community service, 5-year driver's license revocation, and vehicle registration suspension.
- Third Offense - (Class 2 felony) Between 3-7 years in prison, 10-year driver's license revocation, and vehicle registration suspension.
In addition to the possibility of lengthy prison sentences and fines, a fourth or subsequent conviction for a DUI will cost you your driving privileges for life without the possibility of restoring them.
Our firm understands the seriousness of multiple DUI charges and seeks to protect both your freedom and your driving privileges. We are experienced in presenting effective DUI defense strategies and we aggressively pursue acquittals and reduction of charges and sentences.
